How to Port Your Existing Mobile Number to Jio

Reliance Jio is already one of the largest telecom operators in India – with 4G Volte connectivity across the country. The operator sells competitive prepaid and postpaid plans to attract customers. It also offers benefits including a complimentary subscription to Disney + Hotstar VIP access and Geo apps. In addition, Geo offers benefits such as packs for in-flight connectivity and long-validity packs specifically for prepaid customers.

Geo Allows you to port your mobile number to its prepaid and postpaid services as well as online and offline channels. You should easily keep your original address and proof of identity. Proof may be your driving license or any other legal address and identity document. Like other operators, Geo offers door-to-door delivery of the new SIM card, although you can still visit the nearest Geo Store or Geo Retailer with your mobile phone to complete porting. You can also use MyJio app On your phone to book a new SIM delivery.

In this article, you will get a step-by-step guide on how to port your current mobile number to Geo prepaid or postpaid service. In the case of an intra-circle port, the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) process takes 48 hours. However, if you change your telecom circle, this may take up to four days. The porting process takes 15 days for customers in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Northeast India.

How to port your mobile number on Geo Online

Like other operators, Geo allows you to deliver your new SIM card online if you do not want to go out and visit the store. It is a good idea to keep your address and proof of identity easy before starting with the online process. It is also important to note that online booking of Geo SIM is currently restricted to postpaid connections, however you can ask the executive who visits your home to give you a prepaid SIM, following the steps below. You will get the steps to port to Geo through the Meizu app and in the next section through the offline channel.

  1. Visit Geo site And enter your full name and 10-digit mobile number.

  2. Now, press Create an OTP Button. It sends a six-digit one-time password (OTP) in the form of a text message to your mobile number.

  3. You must verify the OTP by entering and clicking on the number Verify OTP Button.

  4. The site will now take you to a screen where you will be asked to provide your address details. It will ask you to provide your area, zip code, flat / house number and landmark.

  5. You will now see a Confirm The button you need to click to submit your SIM delivery request.

Geo Executive will call you to get an appointment for new SIM delivery. You need to ask them for MNP facility on the call and generate a unique porting code (UPC) from your mobile phone by sending an SMS message. Follow your 10-digit mobile number, type “port” and send to 1900. The code you receive in response is only valid for four days (30 days in the case of Jammu and Kashmir). You will need to share that code along with your address and ID proof with the executive visiting your location.

How to port your mobile number to Jio using the MyJio app

If you do not want to use the Jio site and already have the MyJio app installed on your phone, you can book a new SIM delivery from the app.

  1. Go to the MyJio app, and then tap Not a Jio user? The option that appears at the bottom of the screen. It will show up if you are not logged in or logged out with the Jio number.
  2. You should now see a pop-up with a port-in option for Geo. Tap that option.
  3. The app will now ask you to enter your full name and 10-digit mobile number.
  4. After you enter the name and mobile number, press Create an OTP Button.
  5. A form will appear asking for your delivery location details, including your area, zip code and home number.
  6. Tap Confirm Button after you enter location details.

Now, you will get a call from the Jio executive asking for your address to provide the new SIM. You need to ask them for MNP facility and specify whether you need Jio prepaid or postpaid connection.

How to port your mobile number on Jio Offline

If you do not want to proceed with the online steps or use the Meizu app, you can port your mobile number to Geo Offline.

  1. Create a UPC by sending an SMS message “port” after your mobile number to 1900. You will receive an SMS with the UPC code from 1901 and its expiration date.
  2. Now, visit your nearest Geo Store or Geo Retailer with UPC code and proof of your address and identity.

If you have a postpaid connection you must clear all pending dues with your current operator. In case of switching from prepaid connection, you should know that your balance will not be forwarded to Jio and you will lose your number after porting.
