The Tesla Corporation papers came online and mentioned two senior Tesla executives on the board of directors list. Named Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd, the company was registered in Karnataka last week, with an address on Lavelle Road, Bangalore. Earlier, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that Tesla would start operations in India in early 2021 and the company was taking the first steps in this direction.
The list was shown on a Tesla fan account on Twitter, Tesla Club India, Which also tracked the location of Telsa’s new office. Looking at the company List of sites, In the motor vehicle segment you can see that it is registered as a subsidiary of a foreign company in sales, maintenance and repair. But most importantly, the board of directors listed includes Vaibhav Taneja, Venkatrangam Sriram and David Jon Feinstein. According to his LinkedIn Profile, Taneja is the Chief Accounting Officer (CEO) at Tesla. Another List Fesnstein Global Senior Director, Tesla Shows Trade Market Access.
Shriram is a Director (among other things) selling digital automotive dealer management toolkit at Xenon Automotive India in Bangalore. He is the co-founder of Clearcoat, which uses computer vision to assess car damage. He worked for Tesla in Shanghai from 2012-2014 as a project manager involved in establishing wholesale and retail operations in China.
The list of directors along with the Incorporation papers indicates that Tesla is indeed set to be established in India – this is certainly not surprising as it has been in operation for some time and was officially launched on December 28th. Confirmed by the Minister of Transport Who says the first launch of the Tesla Model 3 will begin in early 2021.
